Personalized coaching is just that... personalized. It's different for each person based on their goals and what they need to learn. But here are the basics of how it works.
First, you'll let me know what it is you want. Conversation skills? Presentation skills? Creativity? All of it?
You'll also let me know what challenges you have. Does your mind go blank? Do you ramble? Do people lose interest when you talk but you don't know why?
Based on what you tell me, I'll create a game plan for how we'll get you to your goals. As I work with you, I'll discover your strengths and weaknesses and adapt our sessions to meet your needs.
In each session, I'll teach you various skills and strategies. After I describe them to you, I'll guide you through how to use them with simple games and exercises. For example, I might teach you a strategy for building suspense while telling stories, then have you practice it while making up a story. This not only allows you to practice the strategy, it allows you to build your creative muscles, practice thinking on your feet, and have a lot of fun.
The exercises we do will start off easier and build in challenge as your skills advance. By the end of your series of coaching sessions, you'll be shocked by how much progress you've made.
It surprises some people that we can do coaching effectively over the phone. I've had students who worried at first that it couldn't work. "Don't you need to see me? Shouldn't we meet in person? Or do video chat?" Luckily, they've trusted me and found that the phone is perfect for coaching.
Of course, there are a few things you can only work on in person. And eye contact and hand gestures do matter. But they are rarely the most important things to work on. And there's only so much you can do with them anyway. Luckily, you can work on the majority of nonverbal communication skills over the phone, such as your voice tone, use of pauses, and energy level—which for most people are the most beneficial.
Plus, you might be surprised by what your voice conveys. I've told students over the phone, "You're sitting down and not moving your body at all. Stand up and gesture excitedly while you talk." And I've told them, "You're not smiling and you're very tense. Start again, but take a deep breathe, relax, and smile before you start talking." It's not that I'm psychic—those things come across in their voice. That's why, if it's important, I'll usually hear it.

It's really simple to get started. Just sign up for one of the two programs below.
Most people sign up for the eight-lesson package. If you do one session per week, it's a two-month course. And if you do two sessions per week, you can complete it in just one month. Either way, it gives us time to make major progress toward your goals.
There's also a smaller package of lessons if you have a smaller goal or just want to dip your toe into the coaching waters to start.
After you sign up, I'll email you to find out about your goals and schedule our first session. Once we do that, buckle your seat belt and get ready for an exciting ride.
